Passport Increases Can Be Insured Against

Go Travel Insurance, a leading online travel insurance provider advises that travellers can insure themselves against the extra cost of a replacement passport by purchasing the right policy.

As of October 2006, the new adult passport is to increase by 29% from £51 to £66.  This price hike does not just apply to new passports but to also due to replacements if they are lost or stolen.

Go Travel Insurance now urges people going on a holiday to make sure that their travel insurance policy covers a lost passport, and therefore insures against unnecessary costs.  Go’s standard policy covers all expenses incurred whilst replacement passports and travel documents are obtained up to a policy limit of £250. 

Go Travel Insurance travel insurance policies start form as little as £3.95 for single trip and £31.43 for annual cover.

Christian Young, Chief Executive of Go Travel Insurance said: “Go Travel Insurance has always made sure that passports and other important travel documents are covered by our standard policy.  With the increase in prices from October and more increases possible in the near future, we would advise holidaymakers to check with their current insurer that they are covered for the loss or theft of their passport.”
