Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Winter sports enthusiasts are being advised to make sure they have adequate travel insurance for their on-slope activities while on holiday.

According to Moneyextra, getting travel insurance cover can make sure tourists are protected should they suffer an accident when taking part in activities such as off piste skiing and snowboarding.

Senior editor Robin Amlot said: "If you enjoy the adrenaline rush of winter sports you should plan ahead and make sure your travel insurance is appropriate, covering you for the sports you intend to partake in and mountain evacuation."

He warned that without travel insurance, consumers may incur costs of thousands of pounds, "especially if you're holidaying in the US where medical bills are much higher than Europe".

Moneyextra also advised tourists to fully read the conditions of their travel insurance cover before leaving the country.

However, holidaymakers will be glad to know Go Travel Insurance includes off piste skiing and snowboarding as part of its standard ski insurance policy.

A number of additional activities and sports can also be covered for an extra premium.
