Turkey is an ideal destination for Britons hoping to enjoy a relaxing golfing holiday this year, it has been claimed.

Situated outside the eurozone, holidaymakers will find Turkey much cheaper than traditional golf destinations such as Portugal and Spain and, what's more, the country has recently benefited from a huge amount of investment in its golfing infrastructure.

Travel PR specialist Ceyda Pekenc said that a recent report showed that 100 new courses were currently being planned.

Furthermore, Turkey was recently named as the best golf destination in Europe by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

"This is largely due to the Belek district of Antalya, home to championship golf in Turkey, with golf courses designed by world-famous golfers Colin Montgomerie and Nick Faldo and also of the first pure links course in Turkey – LykiaLinksGolf," Ms Pekenc added.

Some of Turkey's most popular resorts include Bodrum, Marmaris and Side.
