Travellers are flocking to South Africa, with more and more taking advantage of the wealth of outdoor pursuits the country offers.
Record numbers of foreign tourists came into the country in the first three months of this year, South Africa's tourism body has announced, in buoyant spirits for what the future holds.
Nearly 1,800,000 people visited the country during this time, representing a 10.3 per cent increase on visitor arrivals for the same time in the previous year.
This is the third year in a row that South Africa has seen its visitor levels rise, something the industry describes as encouraging.
Tourists from Europe seem particularly drawn to the southern tip, with European tourists spending 36 per cent more than the year before.
South Africa provides the perfect excuse to spend your money in a meaningful way, particularly when it comes to the great outdoors. Whale watching, diving and safaris are all popular pastimes. Or, to get a real taste of the extreme, you could go to the continent's southern-most tip at Cape Town to survey the seas.
