Playing golf on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Those looking to combine a holiday in America with some of the best golfing action in the world could do much worse than to consider taking a trip to Tucson.

From February 19th the Arizona-based Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa will host the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play tournament, featuring 64 of the world's best golfers, which is reported to become the city's largest tourism event.

According to the Tucson Citizen, it could rival the Old Pueblo, the Tucson gem, mineral and fossil showcase, which itself brings in an estimated $76.5 million (£39.2 million) in revenue.

However, golf tourists looking to rub shoulders with the stars at the Westin La Paloma are being advised to act quickly.

Public relations coordinator Samantha Copley told the publication: "There's a couple of days where we have a handful of rooms."

Meanwhile, hotel general manager David Morgan claims the tournament will expose the city as a tourism destination to viewers around the world.

He said: "What a great way to get the word out about Tucson."

Last year's event was won by Australian golfer Geoff Ogilvy.
