Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
About a third of British holidaymakers do not plan their spending, new figures suggest.
According to research conducted by Post Office, one in three will not bother with a holiday budget.
Head of travel Kevin McAdam said: "If you do not have unlimited funds at your disposal - and not many of us do - it makes sense to set a spending limit, even when on holiday.
"However, these figures prove that surprisingly few people do so."
Meanwhile, some 48 per cent of tourists claim to create a budget only to subsequently fail to stick to it.
Eating out and sightseeing were reported to be the two main causes of overspending.
Earlier this week, a study by Europ Assistance indicated that British tourists spend more money on holidays than any of their European counterparts.
The research also revealed that 47 per cent of Brits plan to go away at least twice during 2007.
