Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Holidaymakers hoping to beat the credit crunch and get away this summer should ensure they book their flights as early as possible, according to one travel expert.
Tom Hall, travel editor of Lonely Planet, said that despite the rising cost of oil, there are still a number of holiday bargains to be had.
When it comes to bagging a cheap deal, Mr Hall recommends booking flights as early as possible and comparing prices to find the best-value tickets.
"If you do book a cheap flight then you need to be a savvy traveller and that means a number of things: book early, be prepared to travel at anti-social times
travel with hand luggage only ... check in online," he commented.
According to figures from the International Air Travel Association, world passenger numbers were up 3.8 per cent in June, compared to the same period in 2007.
