Travel and Leisure Magazine has named Sydney as the world's best city.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the American publication has chosen the backpackers favourite for this accolade.
The head of New South Wales Tourism said the city's recent £1.7 million advertising campaign is paying off.
He also said that the residents of Sydney contributed in the enhancement of the city's image.
The Sydney Opera House is the city's most famous landmark. Situated on the edge of Sydney Harbour, this sail-shaped building hosts restaurants, shops and five performance venues.
The biggest of these is the Concert Hall, which is home of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and seats 2,690 people.
Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, this exceptional arts complex is the one of Sydney's strongest tourism brands.
It is also the perfect backdrop for the city's spectacular New Years' Eve celebrations and fireworks, especially when viewed from Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is an engineering masterpiece in itself, and another highly recognisable Australian landmark.
