Travel agency Thomson is set to launch a sustainable tourism section of its website, www.thomson.co.uk.
Growing concerns about pollution and its effect on global warming have led to increased interest in eco-tourism, something the travel agent is looking to capitalise on.
The website will feature information about the environmental impact of different types of airplane, as well as specifics about certain areas and hotels.
Kimberley Kay, corporate responsibility manager for Thomson, said: "Thomson has established conservation projects and community initiatives, many of which have been underway for many years.
"However what we are now seeing is a desire from our customers to know more about these activities and to feel that their holiday is supporting the destination they are travelling to," she added.
Tourists will be encouraged to take their own environmental responsibilities seriously, and the company will offer information about how we can call promote greener travel.
The company expects half of all its bookings this year to be made online.
