Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Scottish holidaymakers take more money on holiday than any of their British counterparts, a new study has revealed.
Research by M&S Money found that the average Scot buys £340 of foreign currency before travelling, compared to holidaymakers from the south-east of England who change just £298.
The study revealed that 69 per cent of Britons prefer to change their money before travelling, rather than waiting until they have reached their destination.
Commenting on the findings, Fraser Millar, M&S head of travel services, said: "By taking out more currency in advance, shoppers in Scotland and the north of England are getting the best value on their holiday money.
"Leaving it until you get to the airport to buy travel money can cost you more as you may be charged commission and exchange rates tend to be uncompetitive."
In related news, the Department of Health today (October 14th), warned holidaymakers to ensure that they take a valid European Health Insurance Card abroad with them, as well as purchasing a comprehensive travel insurance policy.
