Playing golf on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Where better to practice your pitching and putting than in the home country of the world's most famous golfer, Tiger Woods?
The US has plenty of golf courses but few are as renowned as those in Palm Springs, California. Located around 100 miles east of Los Angeles, the town is a famed recreation spot and used to be known as the "Playground of the Stars".
It has also long been a popular draw for golf tourists, especially those from Europe, and is enjoying a new resurgence at the present time, Worldgolf.com reports.
Famous courses in the area include the La Quinta resort, the Greg Norman course and the Escena golf club.
Quality golf, combined with great weather and a weak dollar are driving more and more travellers to the Californian location.
"Those $200-plus, high-falutin' courses are not so expensive when converted to euros, with the state of the US dollar," said Chris Baldwin, in an article for GolfCalifornia.com.
"Certain Europeans can come to Palm Springs and live and play golf at a level they could never imagine back home."
