Passengers flying to Australia will be able to on one of the new A380 aircraft soon, after Qantas started selling tickets for flights between London, Los Angeles, Melbourne and Sydney.
Qantas - the national airline of Australia - will carry 450 passengers on its first flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles on October 20th, news.com.au reports.
A week later, services from Sydney to LA and London will begin, with further routes being introduced as more airports improve terminals to be able to cope with the larger aircraft.
The Airbus A380 planes include fully-flat beds, extra wide seats and self-service refreshment bars.
"The A380 will also offer significant improvements in terms of environmental performance, including reduced fuel consumption and emissions, greater efficiency and less noise," said Qantas sales and distribution general manager Rob Gurney.
Currently, only Singapore Airlines operates A380 aircraft, with flights from Heathrow Singapore available on a luxury airliner.
