A monkey has been made tourism promotions officer in a Polish town and is reportedly already due a pay rise.

The 17-year-old great ape Bobby receives a salary from the town of Radkow to encourage visitors to attend a nearby area of beauty known as Monkey Rock.

His job is to travel around a nearby city advertising the Table Mountains.

Fortunately, council boss Marek Niewiadomy does not appear to feel threatened by the beast's success and is in fact predicting promotion for the ape.

"If Bobby achieves good results he may be promoted to a post as a specialist. Then he'll be able to count on a pay rise," he explained.

Travel resource Countrygoer Europe notes Bobby's mountains are known as the Stolowe or Table Mountains because of their plateau shape.

It states they are some of the oldest mountains on the continent and contain natural labyrinths and shapes, such as Monkey Rock.
