A new survey has revealed the growing popularity of online portals for booking holidays.
More than half (57 per cent) of the people polled by the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) revealed that they had booked their last holiday abroad via the internet, TravelMole reports.
Online booking has grown in popularity as holidaymakers are given the power to tailor their own choices, which is useful when booking group breaks such as golf holidays.
Furthermore, travel insurance can be arranged via websites these days - vital for those who are taking expensive equipment such as golf clubs in their luggage.
According to Abta, there are almost 7,000 association-registered websites online at present.
Meanwhile, the Abta president has called for the government to clear up what he described as a passenger protection "mess" by bringing in a universal safety net for consumers.
