Travellers with a taste for fine wines should head to the new world for some of the world's best vineyards, it has been suggested.
Oenophiles Neil Phillips and Chris Scott both praised the new world vineyards that have developed in New Zealand.
Travellers who make a purchase might consider taking out adequate backpacker insurance so they are covered for any fine bottles purchased on their trips down under.
Mr Phillips praised the development of Sauvignon Blanc in the Marlborough region of New Zealand and rated the country's food and travel options as "fantastic".
Mr Scott added: "The good thing about wine tourism there [New Zealand] is you get to rock up, taste some fantastic wine and great cuisine - and it's all done with a bit of chilled Kiwi style."
Research by winemakers Montana found that 38 per cent of Britons would like to visit a vineyard and 27 per cent of people have visited one while on holiday abroad.
