Low-cost airline easyJet has announced that a number of new routes will be available for this summer.

Among the destinations announced are flights to Ajaccio and Bastia in Corsica as well as routes to Corfu, Dalaman, Gibraltar, Crete, Cyprus, Hurghada, Lanzarote, Madeira, Malta, Mykonos, Montpellier, Nantes and Sharm El Sheik in Egypt.

Later this month, it is expected that a deal whereby easyJet purchases Gatwick-based British Airways franchise GB airways will be completed.

The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) recently reported that early bookings for Egypt look "very good".

"Travelling is always an inspiring way of spending our free time and ... our enthusiasm for overseas holidays in 2008 remains high," Justin Fleming, Abta president noted.
