New York City is an "ideal short break destination", according to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
With an average temperature of 29 degrees in the summer New York is also a great place to soak up the sun in a cosmopolitan environment and with over 18,000 eateries in the city; it's a foodie's paradise.
AITO chairman Derek Moore said the recent release of Sex and the City will no doubt have reminded Britons about what the city has to offer.
Mr Moore added that New York was a good holiday option for those looking to avoid the strong euro.
"The strength of the pound against the dollar offers tourists good value at the moment, adding an extra incentive to visit," he commented.
According to NYCvisit.com, over one million Brits travel to the city annually.
