Going skiing or snow-boarding? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Holidaymakers looking for some action on the pistes may be advised to take a trip to New Mexico, after ski resorts in the American state have reported an increase in snowfall.
As skiers and snowboarders gocurrently enjoy about 15 feet of snow then from this time last year, officials are inviting tourists to take to the slopes, reports First Track.
Gordon Briner, board member of Ski New Mexico, told the publication: "All of the resorts in the state broke attendance records this weekend, making it the busiest weekend we've seen at the ski areas all season."
The state was also reported to have broken a number of records this ski season with resorts receiving more than 180 inches of snow this year, the most for more than 13 years. During the entire winter season last year the state received just 30 inches.
A study by Halifax Travel Insurance revealed that reduced snowfall and an increase in extreme weather conditions could "drastically" reduce the number of winter sports resorts and increase the costs tourists have to pay to visit them within the next 25 years.
