Britain's National Ski & Snowboard Week has officially begun and will run until this Sunday, encouraging people to get out on to the slopes with its slogan "Give Snow a Go!"

With over 30 companies sponsoring it, the nation's first ever Ski & Snowboard Week is looking likely to be a smash hit.

The UK's ski and snowboard industry are offering a range of juicy discounts, competitions, free offers and promotions to celebrate the week and attract more potential ski bums.

Among the prizes being offered is a dream £3,000 trip to North America's most glitzy ski resort, Whistler, beloved of celebrity's and high-flyers the world over.

And Grand Marnier has commissioned Scots mixologist Jamie MacDonald to concoct a brand new cocktail specifically to celebrate the week.

Dubbed by its creator as Grand Figue d'apres, the new cognac consists of 35ml Grand Marnier, 15ml Cherry Marnier, 30ml Pink Grapefruit, 10ml creme de figue and fresh egg white.
