Millions of Britons are set to escape the rain and head to warmer climes this bank holiday weekend.
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) estimates that over two million Brits will leave the country between August 22nd and August 25th.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be the busiest two days, with over 420,000 passengers set to leave Heathrow and 260,000 to depart from Gatwick Airport.
Furthermore, thousands of Brits are also set to make their escape on the Eurostar and a further 400,000 will travel to the continent by ferry.
Justin Fleming Abta President said: "The August bank holiday is our traditional goodbye to the summer and is always very busy.
"This year is no exception with large numbers escaping to guaranteed sunshine, sandy beaches and warm seas."
According to Abta, this year's holiday favourites include the Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.
A report in today's Guardian suggested that Britain could be in for the wettest August for over 100 years.
