Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Brits planning their holidays abroad this summer should shop around for the best currency deal available rather than just wait until they arrive at the airport, an industry expert has claimed.
According to HiFX, it is important for holidaymakers to shop around for the best deal - as currency exchanges vary greatly between the high street and the country's main airports.
A weak sterling, combined with strong currencies such as the euro and the Australian dollar, means that some travellers could be out of pocket by substantial sums if they leave it to the last minute.
Mark Bodega, director at the company, said: "Generally airport providers' rates are a lot less competitive than those available elsewhere and once you're in that last chance saloon, you will be left with little choice but to accept what's on offer."
Recent research by the company found that Australia and New Zealand are becoming more popular with UK tourists than ever before.
