Going skiing or snow-boarding? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Britons jetting off on winter ski holidays this year have been warned to ensure that their ski boots are properly fitted before hitting the slopes.

Female skiers in particular have been warned to take care, after research carried out by French doctors found that they were more susceptible to injury than their make counterparts.

According to the Telegraph, more than 140,000 skiers injured themselves last year in French resorts alone, with snowboarders said to be even more prone to accidents.

In order to avoid injuries, holidaymakers are advised to have their boots professionally fitted and to warm up properly before engaging in any activities.

The Telegraph reported that more than a quarter of holidaymakers put themselves at risk by hitting the slopes without travel insurance.

In related news, the Ski Club of Great Britain recently named Vaujany in France as Europe's most family friendly resort.
