Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

The majority of British tourists are not concerned about hotel brands.

According to research commissioned by Utell Hotels and Resorts, 92 per cent of travellers see the brand of accommodation as the least important part of booking a place to stay, reports Travel Weekly.

President Peter Fitzgerald told the publication: "The survey demonstrates that UK consumers want originality and choice in their accommodation, as well as flexibility and security in how they book."

The study indicated that 15 per cent of respondents have a desire to stay in independent hotels.

Meanwhile, 57 per cent claimed to prefer booking their accommodation online.

Earlier this year, it was suggested that tourists are set to receive better guidance on the safety of their holiday lodgings.

Following an accreditation system launched by Travelsafe hotels and apartments could be blacklisted if they do not meet certain standards.
