Holidaymakers should 'buy good quality insurance'

Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Opting for the cheapest travel insurance policy may not necessarily be the best option, it has been claimed.

Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, said it is important to purchase good quality travel insurance and said that very often the cheapest policies "won't cover you for anything".

"There's one that's got a limit of £100 and its excess is £200 so you have to lose £300 in total before you get £100 back. You have to look at a realistic insurance. You need to make sure you get quality insurance," he explained.

Travel insurance involves several different elements, including personal injury cover, theft and luggage protection and holidaymakers are advised to shop around for the package which suits their needs.

Figures released earlier this month by NS&I show that despite the economic downturn, almost half of people are currently saving for their next holiday.
