Going skiing or snow-boarding? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

British travellers must ensure they are properly prepared before hitting the slopes, it has been claimed.

Steve Jewitt-Fleet, a spokesperson for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's 'Know Before You Go' campaign, said that the risks involved with ski holidays mean people must prepare and do their homework before travelling.

"The most important thing is to take out fully comprehensive travel insurance and to read the small print of your policy, so you know what you’re covered for," he commented.

Those who go abroad without taking out cover could leave their families having to face hefty medical bills.

Speaking earlier this week, Rachel Croft of the Post Office revealed that overseas medical costs have risen significantly over the last year, due to the strength of the euro against the pound.

Medical costs have also increased in real terms by around 29 per cent in the US.
