Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Despite the increasing number of travel sites springing up on the internet, around 30 per cent of holidaymakers say they are "dissatisfied" when it comes to booking online.

A new survey commissioned by Advantage Travel Centres revealed that 30 per cent of people ended up shelling out "more than expected" when booking a holiday online.

Advantage chief executive John McEwan told TravelMole that Britons should not rule out booking their holidays with an independent travel agent.

"Good independent travel agents have access to a far wider variety of holiday products than you’ll ever be offered in a typical web search. And added to that, you are dealing with experts who are trained to answer any query you might have to make sure your trip goes without a hitch," he explained.

According to the study, those aged between 16 and 19 were the most likely to make an online booking.

Advantage also predicted that the average cost of a holiday will rise by around ten per cent next year, due to increased fuel costs and the strength of the euro.
