Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Hit movies such as Hancock and Mamma Mia! could significantly boost tourism this summer, it has been suggested.
Martin Evans, a spokesman for The Tourism Business, said holidaymakers were more interested than ever to visit film locations while on holiday.
"Undoubtedly this is due to the huge growth in travel worldwide - especially long-haul travel - and also the growth in 'celebrity culture' and the media's fascination with films, their stars and 'big brand' franchises like Bond and Pirates of the Caribbean," he explained.
The Mirror recently reported that Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman's forthcoming film Australia would form part of a tourism campaign aimed at attracting people to the country.
Mr Evans pointed out that the Lord of the Rings had helped to drive tourism in New Zealand, while Sex and the City is playing a big part in boosting New York's tourism sector.
