Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Holidaymakers looking to beat the credit crunch and save money this winter should head to destinations outside of the eurozone, one travel expert has claimed.
Sharron Livingstone, editor of the Travel Magazine, said that Reykjavik was an ideal city break destination, especially since prices there have dropped considerably over the last year.
"A year ago a pint of beer cost around £6.50 in Iceland's capital - it now costs £4. A meal in a restaurant would have set holidaymakers back around £50, now just £30
"With a saving of almost 40 per cent compared with 2007 this is a good time to visit," she explained.
Ms Livingstone added that winter was the perfect time to see the Northern Lights.
Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik is also home to a number of exciting cultural attractions, such as the Museum of Photography and the Art Iceland Gallery.
