Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Travellers can expect to face major delays over the bank holiday weekend, it has been revealed.

According to research conducted by esure, about half (49 per cent) of those planning to get away will be held up.

The study indicated that more than 900,000 travelling by plane are set to be delayed for more than two hours.

Head of risk and underwriting at esure Mike Pickard said: "Travel delays are part and parcel of any Bank Holiday Monday but the worst place to be is stuck in a traffic jam where there's no escape."

Mr Pickard added that travellers could be advised to "plan their routes with plenty of contingencies" and should look to be aware of the latest traffic updates.

Meanwhile, about 5.6 million motorists will face an average waiting time of 45 minutes.

Earlier this month, Find.co.uk recommended that those looking to take their car abroad this bank holiday should not only take out sufficient travel insurance for themselves but ensure that their vehicle has adequate cover.

Consumers were particularly advised to ensure that their policy includes foreign use and European breakdown cover.
