Those looking to take a golf holiday this year may wish to consider a break in sunny Cyprus.

Writing in the Mirror, Nic Brooke said that with warm weather all year round, play is possible almost every day.

Mr Brooke sampled a number of courses and singled out the Secret Valley complex as one of the finest on the island.

"There are others on the island, but those in the Paphos region are the centrepiece of what will surely soon be a huge destination for British golfing holidaymakers," he wrote.

A new golf development policy has been created by the island's government, with plans in place to construct 14 new courses.

It is hoped that the courses will attract golf enthusiasts during the winter months when it is too chilly to play in northern Europe.

Some of Europe's other top golf destinations include the Costa del Sol in Spain and Northern Ireland, according to Worldgolf.com.
