Cruises are to get more exotic in 2006, according to new research from US cruise reviewers Cruise Critic.
According to the consumer body, cruises will depart from the norm next year, taking in locations off the beaten ocean liner track such as Australia and New Zealand.
World cruises will also receive a boost, Cruise Critic believes, following the announcement that the Queen Mary 2 is to join the QE2 in offering a round-the-world cruise as of 2007.
Another trend to watch out for is what the group refers to as the "family cruise explosion". Look out for more kiddies on deck, or alternatively relish bringing your own, as cruise liners update their amenities to be more family friendly.
Such amenities may however have widespread appeal the presence of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (currently offered by Royal Caribbean) is likely to go appreciated by more than just the kids on those hot deckside evenings.
