Brits looking to save money this summer should consider a holiday to Croatia, it has been suggested.

With warm dry summers and mild winters, Croatia is the ideal destination for those looking to escape the unpredictable British weather.

A spokesperson for tourism PR firm Charisma said the country was also a great destination for holidaymakers keen to travel outside the eurozone for currency reasons.

"It is a popular place to go and visitor numbers are growing year on year … the countryside is very beautiful and the beaches and the water are very clean," she commented.

According to official statistics, over 500,000 tourists visited Croatia during the first quarter of this year, up 14 per cent on the same period in 2007.

Some of Croatia's highlights include the old city of Dubrovnik, the Bay of Kvarner and the stunning Istrian Peninsula.
