Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Cornwall has been named as Britain's number one family holiday destination, with holidaymakers attracted by the stunning scenery and clean beaches.
Research carried out by TripAdvisor also revealed that the Scottish Highlands, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales were popular with British families opting to holiday at home this year.
London was named as the most entertaining destination and the best for nightlife; however, it was also branded the "most unfriendly" place in Britain.
Ian Rumgay, TripAdvisor's European communications manager, commented: "Ranging from the peace and tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands to the buzz and excitement of a city like London.
"The weather may not always be kind, but with so much choice it does not really seem to matter."
Meanwhile, those looking for a quiet break this summer may wish to avoid the seaside resorts of Blackpool and Brighton, with both towns being named as "rowdy" destinations.
Earlier this month TripAdvisor named the world's top literary cities as London, Dublin and Paris.
