Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

Britons travelling to China to catch the last few weeks of the Olympic Games should ensure they have the right information and documents before travelling.

The Beijing Olympic Games run until August 24th, with the Paralympic Games taking place from September 6th to September 17th.

Sean Tipton, a spokesman for the Association of Travel Agents – an organisation which represents almost 7,000 holiday providers – said it was vital that Britons, particularly those travelling independently, checked the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website for advice before travelling.

"There is the visa requirement as well, so that is something you need to sort out before you go to the Olympics," he continued.

Mr Tipton also noted that contrary to reports that many hotels have sold out, there is still availability across many of Beijing's hotels.

The FCO recommends that those travelling to the games only buy tickets from official suppliers and make copies of all important documents.
