Spain will always be a popular destination for British holidaymakers, despite the strength of the euro, it has been suggested.

Holiday Extras, a provider of pre-booked airport parking and hotels, said recently that Spain is still the country of choice for most holidaymakers.

"These are people who have booked in the last month, so they are booking to go away in the next couple of months in the spring period. Spain is tops, then France, America, Portugal, Turkey and Egypt," said Mike Whiting, managing editor of the website.

A recent poll carried out by Holiday Extras revealed that 48 per cent of people are craving a sunshine break this spring.

In related news, the recently published Thomas Cook Holiday Cost of Living survey revealed that Spain is one of the cheapest destinations in the eurozone, with the average three-course meal costing £11.50.
