Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

British holidaymakers have been urged to buy travel insurance and apply for European Health Insurance cards (EHICs) this year.

Speaking earlier this week, Antony Martin, managing director of Insurefor.com, said that many Brits simply forget that they are entitled to the cards.

Some travellers also fall into the trap of only buying travel insurance and thinking they do not need their EHICS.

"Travel insurance provides a certain level of healthcare protection for travellers and is perfect for major instances where hospitalisation is required, for example," he added.

However, if holidaymakers require basic care and an appointment at the doctor it could be more convenient to use an EHIC, Mr Martin furthered.

EHICs provide cover for basic medical care within the European Economic Area.

A recent poll carried out by TripAdvisor revealed that 76 per cent of British families are hoping to take a holiday this year.
