Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

British holidaymakers really do take 'everything but the kitchen sink' when they travel abroad, according to new research.

A survey carried out by Holiday Extras found that 58 per cent of Britons pack too much, with just three per cent of people taking less clothing than they need.

Matthew Pack, web and marketing director at Holiday Extras, said that there was a fine line between packing too much and packing too little.

"As we can see from the results, people seem more inclined to travel with more than is required, perhaps as a means to avoid having to buy items when abroad if they arrive unprepared," he commented.

In related news, holidaymakers who insist on taking all of their worldly possessions abroad should ensure they take out travel insurance.

The Herald reported earlier this year that an average of 26.5 bags per 1,000 passengers were lost or delayed by British Airways during 2007.
