Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

People in Britain spend more money on their holidays than any other county in Europe, a new study indicates.

According to research conducted by Europ Assistance, Britons spend an average of £1,744 on their holiday.

Meanwhile, those in Italy, France and Spain were reported to pay out £1,373, £1,357 and £1,292 respectively.

Some 47 per cent of Britons plan to go away more than once over the course of this year, in comparison to a European average of about 23 per cent.

Managing director of Europ Assistance for the UK and Ireland Charles Walckenaer said: "The survey reinforces the British public's love of holidaying and how they not only have the highest budget for holidaying but they also travel more than their European neighbours."

The study also revealed that about half of (51 per cent) British travellers use the internet when booking a holiday.

Last week, research conducted by Opodo indicated that about a quarter of holidaymakers are influenced by celebrities and films when choosing their next holiday destination.
