Going on holiday? – Get a great deal on travel insurance
Despite the credit crunch, the last luxury consumers are prepared to give up is their holidays, one organisation has suggested.
A recent survey by American Express revealed that 80 per cent of Brits are not willing to sacrifice their annual holiday, despite widespread concerns over the state of the country's economy.
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, said she is not surprised that Britons are still managing to find the money to go away on holiday.
"We know from previous recessions and difficult times that holidays are the last things that people are prepared to give up and nowadays, with the huge range of choices when it comes to holidays, people can pick ones that will suit their pocket," she commented.
Although people are unwilling to do without holidays, it does seem that Britons are experimenting with different travel options. According to a recent report by holiday site Youtravel.com, all-inclusive bookings increased by 70 per cent during March and April.
