Going back-packing? – Get a great deal on travel insurance

A majority of Britons have considered taking a round-the-world backpacking holiday, new research has revealed.

In a recent survey carried out by Mapsinternational.co.uk, 96 per cent of people aged between 18 and 35 said they had toyed with the idea of taking a gap year holiday.

Furthermore, 88 per cent of people said that they knew someone who had already taken a gap year.

Commenting on the findings, the site's managing director David Stephens said: "We understand that today increasing numbers of people are wishing to travel and see as much of the world as possible.

"This includes not only students; but also adults taking a year out of work to see parts of the world that they might never think of visiting on a week's holiday."

Meanwhile, a recent study by social networking site Bebo revealed that the average backpacker spends £4,000 on their travels.
