The summer may still be in full swing, but millions of Britons are already planning where they will travel to next year, according to a new study.

A poll carried out by research group TNS found that more than five million Brits plan to book their 2009 holidays over the next few months.

Furthermore, it emerged that 25 per cent of consumers are already scouring holiday brochures and looking for deals on the internet, Travel Weekly reports.

Britons are reportedly keen to book their holidays early in order to save money and allow plenty of time to budget,

TNS head of travel and tourism Tom Costly said that the findings were "reassuring" and suggested that the credit crunch had not managed to deter people from taking holidays.

"There seems to be resilience among large sections of the population that holidays are of sufficient importance that it is worth planning ahead for 2009, despite economic uncertainty," he explained.

Meanwhile, a recent report from the Post Office revealed that demand for euro currency is up 3.2 per cent on the same period last year.
